It is easy to feel intimidated and overwhelmed by the prospect of creating your own eye makeup look in this day and age, when social media platforms like Instagram are so prevalent. It would appear that every tutorial we look at involves some kind of difficult blending technique, immaculate cat-eye liner, or laborious crease cutting. Although these looks are lovely and inspiring in their own right, we typically look to something that is more straightforward when we are looking for fashion ideas. After all, we aren't sure how your weekday mornings go, but we find that ours are far too hectic to spend fifteen minutes in front of the mirror trying to perfect our eye makeup while we watch the news. In point of fact, we'll be lucky to have a total of fifteen minutes to get ourselves ready.(Perhaps it's just us, but coffee is always the first thing we have in the morning.)

But just because you want a simple eye makeup look doesn't mean it has to be dull; we still yearn for color and excitement in our looks. Because of this, we combed through Instagram in search of eye makeup looks that deviate from the standard—that is, looks that are simpler to recreate but have the same level of impact as their more complicated counterparts.

Creamsicle number one of fifteen.

Let's begin with this look, which was created by celebrity makeup artist Tobi Henney and is extremely versatile.

  • Find an eyeshadow in a creamsicle color and apply it to your lids to achieve these pretty orange eyes

  • Up Front and Truth Hurts are the two colors that Henney used from the ColourPop Give It to Me Straight Palette

  • Although you can no longer purchase that palette, the brand's Blush Crush Palette (which costs $14) contains shades that are very similar

To complete the look, curl your lashes and then apply waterproof mascara.

A straightforward sheer gloss applied to the lips creates the ideal contrast.

2 of 15 An opaque yellow coloration

One sweep of a vibrant yellow shadow is almost all that is required to achieve this eye-catching spring look.

Apply the eyeshadow all over the lid by first dipping a small, precise brush into an opaque, neon yellow eyeshadow and then applying it all over the lid.

It does not have to be perfect (when you are finished creating the shape, clean it up with a cotton swab and some makeup remover). The vividness of this color really appeals to us.

Thrilling Liner No. 3 of 15

Try out a thin line of electric blue on your upper lashes like celebrity makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes does and see what kind of effect you get.

After applying a color that is more muted all over the lid, you should use a vivid liner to accentuate your upper lash line.

This is probably the quickest method for achieving a subtle pop of color, so it's worth a shot. The ultraviolet color that she is wearing is both daring and elegant, and we admire both qualities in it. If you want to line your eyes, I recommend using the Juvia's Place The Violets custom eyeshadow palette, which costs $15, and a thin brush.

When in doubt, add gloss, that is the new company motto. Simple, everyday makeup can be transformed into a look that is appropriate for the runway in an instant.

Applying your OEM eyeshadow pattle in the usual manner is the first step in creating a look like this one.

Then, to take it to the next level, apply a gloss such as INC. redible's You Glow Girl Irridescent Jelly ($12) on top of it. This will bring out the shimmer even more.

Powder Blue Modern, Number 5 of 15

Try a contemporary take on the powder blue eye shadow that was popular in the 1980s, like the one Henney applied to Bambi Northwood Blyth, so that you can stay true to the spirit of audacity. It's a straightforward application method, but the end result is a major head-turner; it's a look that we'll be sporting on Saturday nights from now until the end of time.

To achieve this look, apply a bright blue eye shadow all around the lids, and then blend it out using a shadow brush.

After curling your lashes, apply some mascara.

06 of 15 Pale Pink

Makeup artist Robin Black, who is the brains behind the beauty blog Beauty Is Boring, is responsible for creating this blazing look.

In place of eyeshadow, Black went with Tom Ford's Shade Illuminate Blush Duo in Explicit Flush ($95), which she applied all over her cheeks.

We find that blush works wonderfully as eyeshadow. In most cases, it provides an outstanding color payoff while also preventing us from having to spend additional money on palettes.

07 of 15 The Peach Is Diffused

Dreamy is the only word that adequately captures the essence of this mellow monochromatic look that was also created by Black. The beachy diffused peach and matching rosy lip are both elegant in their own distinct ways.

Applying peach ODM Eyeshadow Palette to the upper lid and the outer corners of the eyes, then blending it out with a brush, is a great way to make your eyes look more awake.

the eighth of fifteen curved lines

Makeup artist Celine Bernaerts is a great source of ideas for those of us who favor a more understated approach to our eye makeup.

To achieve this look, you only need to draw a single curved line of color across the crease, and then blend a bit of gold shadow all over the lid. Feel free to add a little bit of winged liner if you have a few minutes to spare in addition to that.

Although it may take some time to match both lines on either lid, the application process itself is relatively quick, and cotton swabs and makeup remover can be of significant assistance in this regard.

09 of 15 Peaches. Peach.

This eye makeup by professional hair and makeup artist Gabby Webb, which features an orange hue reminiscent of a sunset, is another one of our favorites. It serves as evidence that fashionable eye makeup does not require complex layering or blending techniques.

In this instance, all that is necessary to achieve this look is a lovely peach eyeshadow and some careful application of it.(Oh, and a highlighter to mimic that dewy complexion.)

10 of 15 Pastel Lavender

We can't get enough of monochromatic eye makeup looks, particularly when they feature a vibrant shade of lavender like that.

You can achieve a look similar to this one by applying a pigmented pastel lavender with a patting motion and then blending it out in a circular motion.

Next, using the ring finger, apply a shimmery silver in the center of the nail.

11 out of 15 Cat's Eye

We are aware of what it is you are thinking. What on earth makes people think that this cat-eye is easy to do? If you have the appropriate tools, specifically a cat-eye stencil such as the one included in the Real Techniques Eye Shade Blend Eye Makeup Brush Trio Set ($9, Amazon), then yes, it is possible.

After positioning the stencil over your eye, you can then fill in the spaces with liner. Once you have removed it, the area will regain its neat and orderly appearance.

You could also consider using a pigmented liner or shadow color in a subtle shade, such as the eggplant tone shown in the previous image.

12 of 15 Shades That Are Muted and Smoky Neutrals

If muted and smoky tones are more your style, this masterfully blended masterpiece can serve as a source of motivation and ideas for you.

First, smudge a kohl liner along your upper lash line, and then, using a brush, smudge the liner outward and upward. We like Maybelline's Master Kajal Eyeliner ($10).

13 out of 15 Refreshing and Velvety

This look places the majority of the attention on the eyelids, leaving the rest of the face looking relatively natural. It is daring, stunning, and surprisingly simple.

Applying an opaque bright cream formula all over the lid and blending it out will produce a striking effect.

Because the finish isn't affected by fine brush bristles, we find that using our fingers is the most effective method for applying this kind of shadow. It does not require any blending, and it does not even require much shaping; all it does is bring out the color of your eyes. It's so simple yet has such a big impact, isn't it?

White Liner, numbers 14 and 15

There are times when you can achieve perfect eye makeup with just one product, and that is most definitely the case with this look.

To achieve an architectural look, all you need to do is apply a little white eyeliner to the inside corner of your eye and another flick along the outer edge of your eye.

Eyeliner Applied Backwards

Applying eyeliner to the lower lash line alone is one of our favorite ways to achieve a look that is uncomplicated but still noticeable when wearing eye makeup. Shay Mitchell and Olivia Munn, amongst other famous people, are among those who are responsible for popularizing the so-called upside-down eyeliner trend.

Only the lower lash line should be lined with the dark liner.

Apply a dark shadow below the lower lash line with an  custom eyeshadow palette brush and smudge it out using the shadow. Our favorite dark shadow is the mauve one pictured here.
